A Letter from our President
Welcome to the Beta Psi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta!
My name is Esma Mouhoub, I am the CEO of this beloved chapter, and I am so honored to welcome you to our webpage. First and foremost, I would love to share some background on our fraternity’s history. Kappa Alpha Theta was founded by Bettie Locke at the Indiana University back in the year 1870. Prior to its founding, Bettie attempted to join the other Greek Fraternities on campus, but she was rejected solely because she was a woman. However, Bettie’s incredible courage and determination compelled her to push the boundaries of society. She sought out to establish her own fraternity, the first Greek letter fraternity known among women, and initiated a sisterhood of 4 leading women. Presently, Kappa Alpha Theta has 147 Chapters across North America, and over 270,000 active members, all of whom share the same ideals in a special cherished bond. The Beta Psi Chapter on McGill’s campus continues to shape leading women by encouraging them to push societal norms and be the best version of themselves in a kind, caring and supportive environment. Our chapter takes pride in our diversity, such that our members pursue common goals and ideals, while also remaining true to their own unique identity. These common values are what bring us together and foster the friendships that withstand the highs and lows of daily life. Through obedience to the motto “nothing in excess”, the pursuit of ideals, and the cultivation of friendship, our members can strive for excellence through the loyal bonds of sisterhood. Thank you for your time, TLAM <3. Loyally, Esma Mouhoub Chief Executive Officer, Beta Psi Chapter |
